Segmentable Inventory is a Sonar Software feature that lets ISPs track cable and fiber assets at the segment level, split spools across projects, and report cost per foot or meter to meet grant and government funding compliance.

We're excited to introduce Segmentable Inventory, a major enhancement to Sonar's inventory management system. Designed for ISPs managing cable and fiber assets, this update streamlines operations, improves financial accuracy, and ensures compliance with government funding requirements.

What's new in Segmentable Inventory

Granular Asset Tracking - Capture batch numbers, lengths, and installation locations for complete visibility into your fiber and cable inventory.

Seamless Spool Segmentation - Split fiber spools into segments and allocate them to projects or locations with real-time updates.

Enhanced Financial Reporting - Track costs per foot or meter with precision, ensuring accurate asset capitalization and compliance with grant reporting requirements.

Traceability & Compliance - Maintain full traceability by linking fiber segments back to original purchase orders, simplifying audits, warranties, and RMAs.

Field Tech Mobile App - Update inventory in real-time through the Sonar Field Tech app for on-site tracking.

Why segment-level fiber tracking matters

The Segmentable Inventory Feature eliminates inefficiencies and enhances financial and operational transparency. With real-time tracking, automated updates, and improved reporting, ISPs can ensure compliance with funding regulations while optimizing asset management.

Questions, answered.

What is Sonar's Segmentable Inventory feature?

Segmentable Inventory gives ISPs granular tracking of cable and fiber assets, capturing batch numbers, lengths, and installation locations. It is designed to reduce inefficiencies and improve financial and operational transparency.

How can ISPs track fiber and cable assets at the segment level?

ISPs can split fiber spools into segments and allocate them to specific projects or locations with real-time updates. Each segment links back to its original purchase order, which maintains full traceability for audits, warranties, and RMAs.

How does Segmentable Inventory support grant and government funding compliance?

The feature provides cost-per-foot or per-meter tracking, which supports accurate asset capitalization and grant reporting compliance. This level of detail helps ISPs document fiber inventory for funding requirements such as BEAD.

Can field technicians update fiber inventory on-site?

Yes. Field technicians can update inventory on-site in real time through the Sonar Field Tech mobile app, so segment allocations and locations stay current as work is completed.
