Sonar now supports billing two data services under a single subscriber account, so ISPs can add a secondary connection without duplicate accounts, extra paperwork, or workarounds. We're excited to announce this powerful new upgrade to dual data-service billing.
Whether you're deploying redundant connections for business-critical services or delivering isolated home/office connections to WFH customers, dual data-service billing helps you deliver flexibility and clarity for both you and your customers.
What dual data-service billing lets you do
With this update, you can:
Bill two unique data services on one account - Easily add a secondary data service alongside a primary one, eliminating the one-data-service-per-account limitation.
Designate primary and secondary services - Choose which service is primary and swap roles if and when your customer's needs change.
Track usage and top-offs separately - Monitor data usage, caps, and top-offs for each service independently, ensuring accurate billing and reporting.
Simplify complex network setups - ideal for scenarios like failover connections, dedicated home office networks, or unique single-family home requirements - all without duplicating accounts.
Enjoy seamless UI clarity - New labels and UI elements make it easy to see which service is primary or secondary across account views, searches, and graphs.
Maintain precise automations - Scheduled events and job types respect the primary/secondary distinction, keeping provisioning and billing accurate.
How dual data-service billing works:
Link Inventory to Data Services (Prerequisite)Use Data Service Links to connect each data service to its corresponding device. You can do this individually or mass update existing accounts using the bulk linking tool.
Enable Multi-Service BillingTurn on the feature in your system settings to unlock multi-service functionality.
Add Additional ServicesAdd a secondary data service to any account that already has a data service, assign or swap primary/secondary roles, and manage usage and top-offs independently for each service.
Stay Organized and InformedAdd packages confidently - primary services in packages automatically replace existing primary services with clear messaging - and view updated UI labels across the Sidebar, Account Overview, Global Search, and communication templates for full visibility.
If you prefer to keep things as they are, simply leave the system toggle off, and your instance will behave exactly as before, ideal for users with only one data service per account.
A quick note: while this update can support provisioning automation via Netflow, , LTE, and Inline Devices, integrations with systems like Calix SMx, Adtran Mosaic Cloud, and Preseem aren't yet supported for dual-service data billing, so be sure to review your integration needs before enabling.
